Motivation to Run...Found it!

It's February already!  First month of the year...done! 

Anyway, I was trying to find my motivation the past week and luckily I found it today -- 5 days before my marathon!

I've been pretty off with my runs lately.  I do get all the miles in but I dunno...I just feel tired and blah during most of the runs.  I barely finished my tempo run last week.  Is it just me or am i starting to feel the symptoms of a burnout slowly creeping in?  Well, it will have to wait until next week.  Have to finish my marathon first on Sunday.

Luckily, something arrived in the mail yesterday...



My subscription to Runner's World Magazine.  Got 1 whle year for just $9. Woot!   Thanks Jen!

Before signing off last night, I decided to start reading the February issue and right on the front page, written in bold... GET MOTIVATED NOW!  Ahhh , just what I need.  After reading the first 20 pages... voila!  I found my motivation!  Nothing like reading stories and words of other runners to inspire and motivate you.  I fell asleep feeling really excited for my 5K easy run today.  It's taper week already.  And my body welcomes the easy paced short distances.

How was my run today?  It was awesome! =)

  2. Woo hoo Julie! Got both of mine too :) I am sitting on them (Can't wait to crack them open!!) because I'm going back to LA next week and want to devour them on the plane. I am a wacko about magazines on the plane - can't get enough…

    Anyway, the motivation thing - so hard. I try to push myself to do something, anything, anyway. The "unmotivated" moments usually eventually pass or I finally have that "great" run again that gets me going :)

    Blogging about it helps too.

  4. Woo Hoo for finding your motivation! I had some of that problem a few weeks ago. Good luck with your marathon. It's Seal Beach? I'll be up in Redondo at the 10K and thinking of you :-) The weather should be gorgeous!

  5. I'm glad you found your motivation!!!!! Good luck this weekend! Don't feel bad about taking a week or two off after running two marathons so close together. You and your body need a little break! I can't wait to hear about marathon two!!!!

  7. the motivation for me comes from:
    1. knowing how good i will feel after i am finished running.
    2. knowing that every time i run i am getting myself closer to being able to achieve the goals i have set for myself.
    3. i am highly competitive, so i am motivated by being able to do better than the last time!

    on another note, i love RW. this month has some great stuff in it. happy reading!!

  13. Amazing that 2nd marathon is here already. Seems like just yesterday we were discussing you doing this and now it's here. You got it and now that you have your mojo then you really really got it.

  14. Awesome on finding what motivates you. RW actually makes me more angry than anything. Esp Ask Miles. I haven't read RW in a year now. What motivates me? That's a good question. I don't know. I just like running. The feeling I get gets me out the door.

  18. right at the end of marathon trainig it's totally normal to be a little ho hum, that's why God invented taper week :) you unknowningly gave yourself the perfect break it needed and will be ready to rock the race!!
