Got My Butt Kicked by a 7 Year Old!

I just want to share something that happened last week during the last 100 meters of my 6 mile easy run last Friday...

On my way back home, I saw this this little asian boy (around 7 years old) in a striped shirt, khaki pants and a backpack.  He was probably on his way home from school.  He was walking lazily in the middle of the trail I was running on.  He must've heard my feet pounding the pavement so he then looked over his shoulder.

I smiled.

He then waited for me to reach him.  He smiled at me and started running!

Oh he wants to race!

Naturally, I slowed down my pace as the kid ran with all the strength he could muster.   I was smiling in amusement.  This kid is too cute!

Finally he stopped in front of the gate right beside our apartment complex.  He jumped to face me with both of his arms raised to the sky in victory and happily said, "I won! I won!"

I passed him.  Still slowly jogging and pretending to be tired.  Smiled at the cute boy and gave him the thumbs up sign, "Yes you did!  Good job!", I replied.

I head home wondering...

Did I just make that little boy's day?

I really hope so!  He surely made mine! =)
