Gear Review and Giveaway: Power Balance Silicone Bracelet

I have seen these silicone bands around the wrists of some famous athletes and I often wondered, "Do they really work?"  And I'm pretty sure, the same question boggles the minds of those who have not yet tried their products.  Heck, I am also almost certain, that is the reason why you are reading this review and possibly considering joining the giveaway.  Am I correct?  It okay, I understand and I don't blame you.  You just want some simple questions to be answered.

What is Power Balance?

Power Balance is Performance Technology designed to work with your body’s natural energy field. Founded by athletes, Power Balance is a favorite among elite athletes for whom balance, strength and flexibility are important.

How Does the Hologram Work?

Power Balance is based on the idea of optimizing the body’s natural energy flow, similar to concepts behind many Eastern philosophies. The hologram in Power Balance is designed to resonate with and respond to the natural energy field of the body.

What is it made of?

Made to last, this durable, 100% Surgical Grade Silicone wristband can go anywhere you do. Made with a stretch feature that extends easily over your hand, you'll love the style and comfort it provides. Complete with two Power Balance holograms, this sporty and fun band goes with everything.

Are there sizes and different colors?
Find your size and see where the day takes you. XS (6.3 in or 16 cm) S (6.9 in or 17.5 cm) M (7.5 in or 19 cm) L (8.1 in or 20.5 cm) XL (8.7 in or 22 cm).  10 different colors to choose from.

My Review

I tested the Power Balance Silicone wristband during my very first marathon 2 weeks ago.  A month before, I was experiencing recurring pain on my right knee, I hit "the wall" during my training, and was starting to doubt if I could finish before the 5:30 cut-off time.  I put my trust in God, in my training, and on this little pink silicone bracelet by Power Balance to get me through this marathon.

In case you have not read Part 1 and Part 2 of my race recap let me mention succinctly how it all went down...

I finished the marathon in 5 hours and 19 minutes.  I did NOT hit the wall.  I felt extremely good, strong and happy the whole time.  And lastly, I did NOT experience any pain on my right knee (which I was expecting) or in any part of my body.

Even after the marathon, I kept the wristband on.  The next day I wasn't as sore as I had expected and was even able to walk around the mall to do some window shopping in Vegas. 48 hours after the marathon, everything was back to normal.  Oh and I (along with my fiance) was able to carry our new couch (a 3 seater) up some flights of stairs to our apartment on the THIRD floor. Does that count?

Evidently, the results of my marathon pretty much answers the question, "Does it really work?"

It may be a whole lot of things like my 5-month training, my taper week, etc. which resulted to the success of my marathon. Surely, it is all those reasons combined,  as well as me wearing the Power Balance Wristband during race day.  It worked for me, as you can see.  But I'd like to attach this to my answer, "you have to try it out yourself to see".

And that is why I am giving away either a Power Balance Silicone Wristband or Silicone Pendant.  You get to choose if you want to wear one on your wrist or around your neck.

  13. I'm not a big fan of necklaces in general, but I like both kinds of wristbands. The neoprene looks cool, but the silicone would probably be the most comfortable.
