3 Things Thursday: Christmas, Ice Skating, & Long Run

I just realized I haven't really posted much since Christmas. Just a gear review/giveaway and a wordless Wednesday post.  And with the New Year fast approaching, my parents staying over for the weekend and celebrating New Year's eve here our place....whew!...I'm gonna be a busy bee!

So just a quick update here...

1.  Celebrated my first Christmas here in the U.S. and I was so happy to have spent it with my parents.  The last time was 8 years ago!  We got home at around 4:30am since we started eating at around midnight for Noche Buena.

Most of the gifts I got were PINK and I got two running/sports-related gift. A Lululemon All Sports Bra and something I will reveal next month. :p

With my dad, step-mom and siblings and "some" of the food we had. =)

Me and my not-so babygirl and me opening presents at 4:30am!

2.  I think Ice Skating can be considered as cross-training, right? Got shin splits though.  Only coz I'm not Kristi Yamaguchi!  I've done this several times before but it's not like riding a bike again, that's for sure!  Mike and I hung on to those corners for dear life!  It was actually Mike's first time and I loved that he was so determined to learn how to skate that he went back in the rink several times.  Mikah, on the other hand, was the expert.

I finished early coz I remembered I'm scheduled to do my long run the next morning!  AND... I fell on my butt once.  No shame in that! LOL! Mikah even caught it on video but I. AM. NOT. SHARING. IT. :p

Forgive the sucky iPhone photos. 0_0

3.  Ran 14 miles last Monday at 12noon!  The sun was out and I think I ran a little slower than usual because of this.  Every time I would feel warm, I would just think about the crazy heat back home in the Philippines and that seemed to work.  Felt good, no pain in the knees but the calves felt sore after.  That's something new. At least  was able to burn off all the Christmas lbs.
*What's sports/running-related gift did you receive this Christmas?
*Tried any winter sport lately? Which one?
*What did you do to burn of all the food you ate this Christmas?

  2. Whoa, fourteen miles? WOW! That is really good. I can only jog and brisk-walk for only 3 to 5 miles a day.

    Pink gifts? I love those.

    Happy New Year dear! :D

  15. Thanks for sharing some of your Christmas Cheer with us, and your family as well. For Christmas, I got an ipod shuffle, and Asics Sky Speed shoes. I still have gravy in my blood stream and turkey in my gut. Believe it or not, I gained back all the weight that I lost before the Marathon. lol. No winter sports here, I HATE the cold weather and being in it. I tried ice skating before and did not care for it as my ankles hurt bad. Take care and have a very happy new years.

  17. You and your daughter are beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photos.

As you probably know, my favorite running related gift was my entry into the Pittsburgh Marathon that my parents gave to me! I also got some gift cards to my favorite running store (to get an outfit for Pittsburgh maybe?)! ;)

Someday I would LOVE to learn to ski - I have never really done any winter sports at all. It looks like you had a blast!

Burn off holiday pounds? Ha! Not so much yet, but it is in my forecast to hit the gym and bust out some miles with a friend today!
