Three whole days of no running?! I mean seriously! I feel like an addict craving for her next hit. Cardio hit that is. I'm getting really impatient here. Having a bummed knee sucks big time!
I feel like I gained 3 lbs!
I feel like my days haven't been complete without running.
And I feel like I'm going crazy already!
Don't I sound crazy to you?
I'm the most impatient and panicky person in the world. I don't want to ever be injured again, please!
I know the pavement will still be there and that I can run another day. My knee is feeling better though, so maybe tomorrow I can try running again. I've been good the past 3 days. R.I.C.E.-ing it and all.
We'll see...*crosses fingers*
So sorry Julie.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts, feelings, desires ;) are all real and valid. Just hang in there. Keep doing what you are doing. hugs from AZ.
Feeling your pain--keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteinjuries are no fun! sending good vibes your way :)
ReplyDeleteDon't panic. Just relax. Don't even try to run if you still have an injured knee tomorrow. How about doing some cross training? (Yoga, Core exercises) It might help you in your boredom. With your 1st FM so close, you don't want to get more injury.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! Hope you heal quickly!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely take the time off from running. It's the hardest thing to do, but the best. Have you tried swimming or "swim running" as an alternative? Gail also had some good ideas.
ReplyDeletehi guys! thanks for the kind words. I knew you guys would understand.
ReplyDeleteI tried swimming yesterday but it's just too cold =(
pano na ang hotlegs? *wink*
ReplyDeleteget well soon Julie!
Hope you are feeling back to normal soon! Sucks to be on rest, but your knee will reward you for it. :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery! There are definitely worse things to be addicted to than running.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy. You don't want to hurt yourself more. I seriously haven't ran since the 10-10-10 marathon. I was advised not to do anything high impact until an ortho takes a look at it. Working 18-hr days makes it impossible to do anything plus I'm on foot most of the time at work so it takes me a while to recover. I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms now. Just relax! :D
ReplyDeletejuliepie... don't stress yourself. nakaka-gain ng weight ang stress. relax ka lang.
ReplyDeleteme, if i can't run because i feel pain.
i read books, listen to music, sing, dance. dami pwede gawin.
=)
Hope your knee gets better soon I know exactly how you feel ... bored, frustrated and itching for some good old cardio exercise. I've been struggling for nearly a month and it's killing me not being able to run around but after a visit to the docs I've come to terms with the fact I rest it the better the comeback will be (hopefully)! Keep smiling ...
ReplyDelete"one step backward, two steps forward." rest pays. and take it easy on the return run.
ReplyDeleteLook at your even countdown. It is 36 days away. You have time since you have been training so well for so long. Better to get this healed then force it and make the injury worse.
ReplyDeleteYou are in great shape and can handle the marathon so don't worry about not being in condition to finish as you will finish and you will finish strong.
Consider this a way for your body to heal and rest and when you are ready you will go out there and knock out those 19 miles with no problem and then the 26.2 soon thereafter.
Stay positive and upbeat and you will beat this.
Smiles!!!!!
HUGS!! I hear ya! I can't wait to get my sweat on! Being unable to run SUCKS!!!
ReplyDeleteI stopped running 8 weeks ago when I was 30 weeks preggo because I was experiencing pelvic pain (my pelvis was beginning to separate from the running/baby weight/hormone combo). I'm doing every known natural labour inducing activity known 'cause it'll be another 6 more weeks until I'm "allowed" to exercise again. I swear post-partum depression sets in way before baby is born, I bet it's more related to easing up on exercise.
I hope your knee gets better soon!
I'm with you Julie... day 3 here too... thanks to a sinus infection... ugh.
ReplyDeleteHeal quickly!
I feel your pain, trust me I do. I'm out of the running game for the next 3 weeks b/c of injury. I'm going absolutely NUTS!!!! Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope it heals fast, you're doing the right thing keeping off it and icing!
ReplyDeleteDifficult as it may be, patience is the only way to do this. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI know EXACTLY how you feel. My XC season ended a little over a week ago, and I'm taking off 2 weeks before starting to train for the spring track season... It sucks, and its like impossible to get to sleep! If you'd like, come check out my post here on a similar thing:

I feel your pain! I'm suffering from a bad case of runner's knee and am on doctor's orders to limit weight bearing exercise for the next 6 weeks!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are back to running soon!
