Jeff Galloway Video (Part 2)

This is the second video of the Jeff Galloway training series sent to me by RunDisney.

Description: Proper running and walking form is essential to reduce the risk of injury. The Jeff Galloway method teaches runners to stay upright, maintain a short stride and eliminate bounce.

Let’s get training with Jeff Galloway.

Personally I don't think I run completely upright.  I do just a bit of a forward lean to eliminate heel strike and to use gravity to propel your legs to move forward.

The short and smooth stride and feet low to the ground bit I do agree with.  I've tried doing bigger strides and picking up my feet higher and I felt some pain on my knees and ankles when running long distances.  I understand how the latter would work for most runners but sadly, it doesn't for me.

As you know, when you're running, your feet hit the ground with a force equal to or greater than three times your body weight.  So, doing short strides and keeping my feet low on the ground somehow eases the pain on my joints.  This is basically my running style.

  4. Running style? My style is pretty much get one foot in front of the other and keep going.
I will pay attention to my style tomorrow when I run, and I will report that to you (if I remember.)

  6. I know that there are several runners that do the galloway method...I see a few at every race that I do. It works for some people:) I don't know what my running style is. I guess that I just try to run the same pace if I can. Sometimes I get lucky and am able to do negative splits. I also have those races where I can tell that my body needs to slow down...walking time:) Take care Julie!

  7. some pretty good pointers there for those preparing to do the marathon. i think a bit of forward lean when you run helps so long as you don't slouch doing it. slouching is what puts pressure on your lower back.

  8. Thanks for sharing Part 2 of Jeff Galloway's Running tips. When I run, I try to constantly think of "forward motion" and everything else should fall into place. I tend to run upright at all times. I do find myself leaning over some when I am tired though. I guess that means it's time to walk? hehehe

  9. Great information - I'm definitely a forward leaner and keep trying to improve that - I know I've got bad form and that habit is tough to break.

I also tend to take longer strides when I'm trying to run faster - I will keep this video in mind!

    thanks for posting
